During National Volunteer Week, we are taking time to celebrate the incredible volunteers who give their time, talents, and hearts to support survivors at REST. Every meal prepared, every event served, every room refreshed, every donation given, and every prayer lifted makes a difference.
This week, we’re honored to spotlight one volunteer whose faithfulness reminds us that meaningful impact comes in many forms.
meet laura lucht
When Philanthropy Manager Josh Cuellar shared about REST’s mission with Advent Anglican Church in Woodinville, something stirred in Laura Lucht’s heart. She felt compelled to help.
She wanted to be part of the work of bringing freedom, safety, and hope to survivors. But like many people, Laura’s work schedule made it difficult to participate in some of REST’s Saturday volunteer opportunities.
Instead of letting that stop her, she found another way to serve. She joined REST’s Monthly Online Prayer Gathering. A simple, powerful way to support survivors and staff through prayer from wherever she was.
What started as participation grew into leadership. Laura now helps host the gathering and actively invites others to join this vital work of prayer. To make the gathering more accessible for those with traditional work hours, the meeting has been moved to the last Thursday of each month from 7:00 to 7:30 p.m.
Her story is a reminder that volunteering does not always look the same. Sometimes it looks like showing up in person, preparing a meal, using your voice to spread the word or faithfully showing up in prayer.
Making Space for Everyone to Serve
One of the beautiful things about volunteering with REST is that there are many ways to make a difference.
Whether you have a few hours on a Saturday, a skill to offer, resources to share, or thirty minutes a month to pray, your contribution matters. Laura found a way to make an impact that fit her schedule and her gifts. And through her consistency and faithfulness, she is helping strengthen the work of REST behind the scenes.
Thank You to All of Our Volunteers
